There's always something buzzing or growing at Clarky's!  Come along and get a closer look at our hives, explore what's happening in the garden and follow our journey as we learn the joys of beekeeping and growing our own backyard harvests.

Welcome to Clarky’s Hives & Harvest — our little family’s journey towards creating a more self-sufficient life, right here at home.

We’re a busy family of two shift-working parents, two teenagers and a toddler, making the most of the home and land we have. Between shift work, school, family life and a very energetic little one, we certainly don’t have all the answers — and we’re definitely not experts!

What we do have is a desire to slow down, learn new skills and get more from our home. From growing food and keeping bees, to preserving what we grow, creating things from scratch and learning the ins and outs of living a little more sustainably, we’re figuring it out one project at a time.

And along the way, we’re pushing ourselves outside our comfort zones. We’re learning how to turn our experiences into something creative, sharing the good, the bad, the unexpected and everything in between. Whether it’s trying something completely new, getting our hands dirty in the garden or having a go at creating content and bringing our little adventures to life, we’re learning as we go.

There will be successes, plenty of learning curves, the occasional disaster and hopefully lots of laughs along the way.

Clarky’s Hives & Harvest is about sharing the journey — not pretending we’ve mastered homesteading, but showing what’s possible when an ordinary family gives things a go, gets creative and makes the most of what they have.
